The educational and charitable non-profit Calistoga Education Foundation was founded in 1987 with a $2,000 individual donation and $6,000 in donations from the citizens of Calistoga through their tax rebates.
The emergence of the Foundation was a creative solution to the budgetary crisis facing public school districts across the State. The Foundation’s emphasis was and still is the enrichment of education opportunities for students in the Calistoga Joint Unified School District.
In the ensuing 20 years since the inception, the Foundation has moved from a small annual grant allocation to aggressively funding an endowment that now stands at close to a million dollars while funding $80,000.00-$100,000.00 in grants annually in the past 6 years.
