The 21st Annual Calistoga Education Foundation Benefit Auction was a success! Celebrate Discovery, embracing the importance of science in education, was the feature theme of the CEF auction held in May 2008. The outcome proved how important education is to Calistogans. Even with nationwide economic woes, the community of Calistoga pulled together and brought in $142,000 for our schools. Profits from the event will be split 50/50 between the endowment fund and grants to both the Calistoga Elementary and Calistoga Junior/Senior High School. It was a magical evening as the Tubbs building was brought to life with planets and other décor created by students in our schools. We owe a debt of gratitude to our auctioneers, Bob Fellion and Jeff Johnson, who cajoled the crowd into bidding fast and furiously on the many wonderful lots donated by our local citizens, and businesses. On behalf of the entire Auction Committee of 2008, thank you for your support and involvement. Many volunteers are needed to continue to raise these funds annually to enrich the lives of the children of our community schools.
CEF is truly blessed to have been able to fund $60,000 to $98,000 in educational enrichment grants in each of the last six years, as well as building an endowment fund to the million dollar level. Yet, it is only through an enduring commitment that we can continue this track record of creating exceptional educational opportunities for our children. Over the years many of you have answered the call to help make our schools what they are today. Your commitment now will help them become the schools they can be tomorrow. When you give to our winter fundraising campaign your contribution allows the Foundation to continue to greatly enrich the educational experience for all our children. Every gift to the Foundation—large or small—makes a difference.
