Each year dozens of volunteers…parents, teachers, artists, business people — work for months to plan and create a fabulous and exciting auction to raise money for the school kids of Calistoga.

Numerous members of the greater community donate wine, food, services, and a cornucopia of items to be auctioned off in the name of education.

Celebrate The Arts at Castello di Amarosa was an unforgettable experience. In April of 2009 we held our 22nd Annual Benefit Auction for the Calistoga Education Foundation. Our most amazing venue at the castle provided a new ambiance which all who attended enjoyed.

Even in troubled times, one of the highlights of the evening was raising $11,000 for our fund-in-need to purchase new “Smart Boards” equipment for each Calistoga Public School campus. These contributors didn’t get to take home any great lot or tangible goods for their donation, just a happy heart knowing their support will make the difference in many school age children’s lives for years to come. This high tech equipment will allow teachers and students to continue to raise the bar in education.

Everyone enjoyed wonderful food provided by many of our local restaurants. We poured some of Napa Valley’s finest wines which were produced mostly in our own Calistoga area. We had many lots donated by so many supporters. All of this made our auction a success.

Although overall proceeds were down—no big surprise in our economy— we thankfully made enough to fund many of the grants which will be submitted for the 2009-2010 school year. We couldn’t have done it without so many great supporters! A special thank you to ALL the terrific, hard-working volunteers who relentlessly and without hesitation put in MANY, MANY hours starting months before and many hours after the event.
My sincerest thanks to ALL OF YOU!!
